Diagnostics First
Fault-code checks and a suitability assessment before programming. Warning lights, limp mode and drivability faults should be handled before tuning.
Stage 1 ECU remapping at PPG is a diagnostics-first calibration service for healthy standard vehicles. It is designed to improve real-world torque, throttle response and drivability without requiring major hardware changes. The service is £275 including VAT, includes pre-tuning checks, and uses in-house calibration work rather than a generic file upload.
Assessment First. Diagnose Properly. Fix It Right.
Fault-code checks and a suitability assessment before programming. Warning lights, limp mode and drivability faults should be handled before tuning.
PPG file analysis and calibration using licensed software and genuine master tools, matched to the ECU software where supported.
The original ECU file is retained where supported, giving a route back to standard later if the ECU and vehicle allow it.
Advertised gains can be up to 40% more power and 30% more torque on some supported vehicles, but results are vehicle-dependent. Calculator figures are estimates unless measured on a suitable rolling road.
A Stage 1 remap is for healthy petrol, diesel and light commercial vehicles without unresolved mechanical or emissions faults.
A simple workshop flow keeps the tuning decision tied to the vehicle condition, not guesswork.
Use the remap checker or booking form with the registration, vehicle details and any known warning lights or recent repair history.
PPG checks fault codes and basic suitability. If the vehicle is not healthy enough to tune, diagnosis comes before calibration.
The ECU software is identified, the original file is retained where supported, and the Stage 1 calibration is written using suitable tools.
You leave with realistic guidance on fuel quality, servicing, driving style and the warranty or guarantee terms that apply.
PPG will not use a remap to hide boost, fuelling, DPF, AdBlue, clutch or gearbox problems.
Warning lights, limp mode, smoke, power loss or unusual noises should be investigated before calibration work starts.
The ECU software is identified before tuning. Similar vehicles can run different software versions and should not be treated as identical.
The lifetime software warranty and 30-day guarantee apply subject to the published terms and the 2,000-mile limit.
Stage 1 is the normal route for a healthy standard vehicle, but it is not the only route.
| Option | Best for | Important note |
|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | Stronger power, torque and response on a healthy standard vehicle. | Most common performance route; gains depend on engine, ECU and condition. |
| Economy Remap | Smoother torque delivery and economy-focused driving on suitable vehicles. | Fuel savings depend on route, load, servicing and driving style. |
| Diagnostics First | Vehicles with warning lights, limp mode, smoke, DPF or AdBlue faults. | A remap will not repair a mechanical, emissions, boost, clutch or gearbox fault. |
Key checks before booking.

No. Figures are vehicle-dependent. Calculator figures are estimates and should not be treated as measured dyno results.
Vehicles with unresolved faults should be diagnosed before tuning. A remap does not repair mechanical, emissions, boost, clutch or gearbox faults.
Usually, yes. Where supported, PPG retains the original ECU file so it can be restored later.
Some supported vehicles and suitable locations may be eligible for mobile availability, but workshop booking is preferred when diagnostics or extra checks are likely.
No, not for every Stage 1 booking. A dyno is the correct route if you need measured before-and-after figures rather than estimated gains.
