Bench Recovery
The FRM is connected on the bench and recovered where the fault type is supported by the process.
Fixed £49 BMW and MINI FRM3/FRM3R recovery reflash for supported modules. Ideal for common FRM software corruption after a flat battery, voltage drop, jump start, interrupted programming or coding issue. We keep the route simple: confirm the module, recover it on the bench where supported, and tell you clearly if the fault needs another repair path.
This is a focused FRM recovery/reflash service for supported BMW and MINI FRM3/FRM3R modules. It is not a general body-module cloning job.
The FRM is connected on the bench and recovered where the fault type is supported by the process.
Corrupted FRM software data is reflashed or restored where supported so the original module can be reused.
Where recovery is successful, the original module normally goes back to the same vehicle without donor cloning.
These are common BMW and MINI FRM label families customers often send for recovery. Support must still be confirmed from clear module-label photographs before booking or posting a unit.
Use this as a general FRM3/FRM3R removal guide for many BMW E-series and MINI R-series vehicles. Trim layout varies by model, so stop if access or fixings differ from your vehicle.
Park safely, switch the ignition off, remove the key and let the vehicle go to sleep. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before unplugging the FRM.
Move the seat back and remove the lower driver's footwell/kick trim. Most cars use Torx screws and clips around the panel above or beside the pedals.
The FRM is normally mounted behind the driver's side lower trim area. Look for a black control module with multiple large multi-pin connectors.
Unlock each plug using its locking lever or tab. Do not pull on the wiring loom and do not force a connector that has not fully released.
Undo the retaining screws or clips, slide the FRM out carefully and check for damp, corrosion, bent pins or previous repair marks.
Take a clear photo of the full label before sending it. The FRM3/FRM3R family, BMW part number and hardware/software references help confirm support.
Wrap the module securely in bubble wrap, keep pins protected, and include the completed PDF repair form with contact, vehicle and fault details.
Refit to the same vehicle only after the module has been returned. Reconnect plugs fully, secure trim, then reconnect the battery and test functions.
These symptoms can be caused by FRM corruption, but they can also be caused by vehicle wiring, coding, bulbs, switches or other modules.
Headlights, indicators, interior lights or exterior lighting functions not operating correctly.
Window, mirror or related body functions not responding after a voltage or programming event.
Diagnostic communication with the FRM may fail when the module software is corrupted.
Quick checks before booking or sending a removed module.
The fixed service price is £49 for supported FRM3/FRM3R recovery reflash work.
No. FRM recovery/reflash aims to recover the original BMW or MINI footwell module. BCM/BSI cloning is a wider data-transfer service for different body modules and is priced separately.
Yes. Send a clear photo of the module label before booking. The label helps confirm whether the FRM family is supported.
Many trade and confident DIY customers send removed FRM modules, but trim layout and access vary by model. Disconnect power safely, avoid forcing plugs, and use a technician if you are unsure.
No. Severe physical, water, corrosion, processor or memory damage may prevent recovery.
