BCM, BSI & CEM Cloning Northern Ireland

What Is Body Control Module Cloning?

A body control module manages electrical functions around the vehicle. Depending on the application, it can coordinate lighting, locking, windows, communication and vehicle-specific settings. A replacement unit may need more than the right connectors to work correctly.

Cloning transfers the required readable data from your original module to a compatible donor. The exact information and transfer method depend on the unit. We check the label, hardware, software and vehicle application before agreeing the work.

Cloning is not a universal plug-and-play promise. Some vehicles still require separate coding or adaptations after fitting, and the original cause of failure needs to be addressed.

BCM, BSI And CEM: What Is The Difference?

BCM means body control module. BSI is a term used on Peugeot, Citroen and related vehicles for the built-in systems interface. CEM means central electronic module and is commonly associated with Volvo. Other manufacturers use terms such as UCH or SAM.

Those names describe different module families, not interchangeable parts. Even two units with a similar casing can have incompatible hardware, software or security arrangements.

Engine and gearbox control units are a separate service. Use our ECU and TCU cloning page when replacing an engine ECU or transmission controller.

Check The Donor Before You Buy It

A matching model name is not enough. The complete label, part-number suffix, hardware version and vehicle application can affect whether a donor is suitable. Catalogue references are a starting point, not approval to substitute one version for another.

• Send clear photographs of your original module and proposed donor labels.
• Include the vehicle make, model, year and fault symptoms.
• Tell us about water ingress, battery or wiring problems and previous repairs.
• Provide diagnostic findings and communication status if available.
• Keep the original module, even if you believe it has failed completely.

If you have not bought a donor, ask us to check the proposed replacement first. This is usually simpler than discovering a mismatch after it has arrived.

Electrical Faults Need Assessment First

Intermittent locking, lighting problems, warning messages or a module that will not communicate can have several causes. They do not, by themselves, prove that the body module needs replaced.

Power supplies, earths, connectors and vehicle wiring can produce symptoms that resemble a module fault. A cloned replacement will not repair those problems. Water ingress must also be resolved before another module is fitted.

Where the diagnosis is uncertain, start with a module testing enquiry. Standalone initial bench testing is £49; it is a separate assessment, not an included repair or a guarantee that every fault can be reproduced on the bench.

Module Cloning In Newtownards And By Post

Our workshop at 36A Donaghadee Road, Newtownards, BT23 7EU supports vehicle owners and garages across Northern Ireland, including Belfast, Bangor and County Down. We also welcome postal enquiries from elsewhere in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Confirm the service, donor match and job reference before dispatch. For standard cloning, send both units, individually protected, with your reference, contact details and return address. Protect the connectors and use tracked, appropriately insured delivery.

Return postage is additional. Republic of Ireland customers should confirm shipping and any applicable customs arrangements before sending a module. We agree the next steps for the actual job rather than promise a fixed turnaround without checking it.
