What Is ECU Remapping?
ECU remapping professionally adjusts the software controlling engine torque, fuelling, boost, ignition and throttle behaviour. Unlike a generic plug-in tuning box, a remap changes the vehicle's original calibration. When the vehicle is healthy and the calibration is sensible, this can unlock smoother power delivery and a noticeably more responsive drive. A remap does not repair mechanical, boost, DPF, AdBlue, clutch or gearbox faults, so unresolved issues must be diagnosed first.
Stage 2
For vehicles with suitable supporting hardware, healthy logs and a clear use case. Hardware, condition and intended use are reviewed before calibration.
Economy Tuning
£275 including VAT. Smoother low-end torque for vans, motorway mileage, towing and everyday driving. Fuel savings are driving-style dependent and not guaranteed.
Mobile Remapping
£275 including VAT. Supported OBD vehicles can be tuned at a safe, accessible location within 12 miles of BT23, subject to battery support and weather.
AdBlue Software
£350 including VAT. Assessment-led AdBlue and SCR software work where appropriate, legally permitted and suitable for the vehicle's use.

Before We Tune
The best remap starts with the right information. Send the registration, current mileage, engine size, transmission type, any modifications, warning-light history and what you want from the vehicle. PPG will confirm whether the workshop, mobile or diagnostic route is the right first step.

In-House Calibration and Genuine Tools
PPG Tuning NI has professional in-house calibration and file-analysis capability. We use licensed software and genuine master tools including WinOLS, StageX, KESS3, Autotuner, FLEX and Dimsport. The important point is responsibility: the file must match the exact ECU software, be checked properly and have aftercare available if a revision is needed.
No Generic Slave Files
We do not sell blind generic files as current PPG remapping. The vehicle, ECU software and condition decide the correct route.
Original File Retained
Where supported, the original ECU file is backed up so the vehicle can usually be returned to standard later.

Petrol, Diesel & Van Remapping
We remap a wide range of turbo petrol, turbo diesel and light commercial vehicles. Diesel tuning commonly improves mid-range torque for hills, towing and overtaking; turbo petrol tuning can deliver stronger power and throttle response; van tuning focuses on usable performance under load. Naturally aspirated vehicles usually see smaller gains, so suitability is always confirmed first.

How much is a Stage 1 ECU remap?
Stage 1 ECU remapping is £275 including VAT. Economy ECU remapping and supported mobile ECU remapping are also £275 including VAT.
Is ECU remapping safe?
It can be safe when the vehicle is mechanically healthy, sensible limits are used and the correct equipment and process are followed. That is why we begin with diagnostic checks.
How long does a remap take?
Timing depends on the ECU and programming method. OBD tuning is generally quicker; bench or boot access can take longer. Contact us with the registration for a vehicle-specific estimate.
Will remapping improve fuel economy?
Some customers see improved economy when extra torque is used sensibly. Results depend on driving style, routes, load, tyres and vehicle condition, so an MPG improvement cannot be guaranteed.
Can the vehicle be returned to standard?
Usually, yes. Where supported, we retain the original ECU file so it can be restored later.
Do I need to tell my insurer?
Yes. ECU remapping is a vehicle modification and should be declared to your insurance provider.
Will a remap affect the MOT?
A road-going performance remap should not remove legally required emissions equipment. Your vehicle must remain compliant with current road-use and emissions requirements.
Do you use generic remap files?
No. PPG Tuning NI has in-house calibration and file-analysis capability and does not present generic slave files as current PPG remapping.
Which local areas can book ECU remapping?
The Newtownards workshop supports customers from Bangor, Comber, Dundonald, Holywood, Belfast and wider Northern Ireland. Mobile ECU remapping is limited to supported OBD vehicles within 12 miles of BT23 and must be confirmed before booking.
