Professional ECU unlocking at £199 including VAT
A locked ECU can stop a tuning job before calibration work has even started. The programming tool may identify the unit, but its security restrictions can prevent the access needed for a particular operation.
Our ECU unlocking service is a separate bench service. Choose your ECU from the list, buy the service online and send the unit to Prestige Performance Group in Newtownards using your order reference. No separate compatibility enquiry or pre-purchase approval is required for the listed units.
The standard price is £199 including VAT for eligible ECU-only unlocking. It is not a complete remap, a vehicle diagnostic appointment or a promise that every locked ECU can be unlocked. Return postage is additional.
The ECU matters. So does the software.
Bosch MD1 and MG1 ECU unlocking
Family names help identify a starting point. They do not establish compatibility on their own.
Security and processor generations
Different hardware and software generations can restrict programming access in different ways. An ECU label, hardware number and software identification tell us more than a vehicle badge or registration alone.
Korhex procedures exist for selected platforms using processors such as TC298, TC299, SPC5777 and SPC58 variants. Choose the exact ECU reference shown on your unit. A shared processor or a similar family name does not mean that every ECU is covered.
Physical access and programming afterwards
Some units require controlled opening to access the relevant area, followed by resealing. Opening is part of the relevant procedure where required. Do not assume that unlocking is universally non-invasive or that it preserves a manufacturer warranty.
Bench, Boot and OBD describe different access methods. Completing one unlocking operation does not guarantee access through every tool or method afterwards. Your workshop remains responsible for its programming equipment, licences and subsequent vehicle work.

Modern ECUs can restrict access to tuning and programming functions, leaving independent workshops unable to complete certain operations using their existing equipment.
Prestige Performance Group offers a specialist in-house unlocking service to help garages and professional remappers access supported ECU platforms without investing in every unlocking solution themselves.
Send us the ECU, and we will carry out the appropriate unlocking procedure before returning it to you. You remain responsible for completing your own remapping, programming and vehicle work. Tool and protocol compatibility must be confirmed where relevant.
Working with a specialist in Northern Ireland gives your workshop a direct technical contact for the unlocking stage. You can discuss identification, the intended programming route and return arrangements with the business carrying out the work, rather than assuming that the unit must go overseas.
We welcome enquiries from automotive electronics specialists, commercial vehicle workshops, and agricultural or plant specialists where the exact control unit is supported. Private customers can also enquire; ECU removal and refitting should be arranged with a competent workshop.

Turnaround is confirmed for your particular job before dispatch. Programming times quoted for a tool are not the same as a workshop turnaround or a delivery promise.

Postal ECU unlocking throughout the UK and Ireland
Buy online and post your ECU from Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, England, Scotland or Wales. The work is carried out in our Newtownards workshop; you do not need to book a complete vehicle remap with us to use the unlocking service.
Before the ECU leaves your workshop
Complete your purchase first and use the order reference supplied in your confirmation. Photograph the unit and its label, protect the connectors and use suitable anti-static protection with cushioning on every side inside a sturdy box. Include your reference and contact details.
Use tracked delivery with suitable cover for the unit's value. Check the return address entered with your order before dispatch. Do not send an unbooked ECU or include unnecessary vehicle paperwork.
Republic of Ireland customers
Enter the correct return address and business or private customer details when ordering. Return postage is additional. Follow any applicable courier and customs requirements for sending the ECU to Northern Ireland and returning it to your address.

We keep the scope clear. ECU cloning transfers appropriate data to a compatible replacement unit. ECU repair and testing address faults and require a separate assessment. Unlocking concerns access for a confirmed programming operation; it does not repair a damaged ECU.

Is ECU unlocking the same as remapping?
No. Unlocking provides the agreed access on a compatible ECU. Remapping changes the calibration. Our £199 inc VAT service is for eligible ECU-only unlocking; a remap is not included.
Do I need to request a compatibility check before buying?
No. Choose your exact ECU reference from the list, buy online and post the unit using your paid order reference. Do not choose a different ECU as a substitute if your reference is not listed.
Will my tuning tool work after the unlock?
An unlock is not a guarantee of compatibility with every tool. Your workshop remains responsible for its programming tool, licence, protocol and intended operation. Later software updates may affect the access route.
Does the ECU need to be opened?
Some procedures require controlled opening and resealing. We confirm the relevant physical access method for your unit before starting. We do not describe every unlock as non-invasive.
Can garages send units without booking a remap?
Yes. Buy the standalone unlocking service for your listed unit and post it to us. You remain responsible for the calibration, programming and vehicle work you perform afterwards.
What does £199 including VAT include?
The agreed unlocking work on an eligible ECU, with appropriate inspection and verification. Return postage, removal, refitting, diagnostics, repair and remapping are separate. The complete payable amount is confirmed before payment.
Do you accept commercial, agricultural or plant ECUs?
Yes, where the exact control unit is in the service list. This is not a claim that every truck, tractor or plant ECU is covered. Select the reference on your unit when ordering.
How long does a postal ECU unlock take?
We confirm the expected workshop turnaround before you dispatch the unit. It depends on the ECU, the required procedure and workshop availability. Courier transit is additional; no fixed turnaround is promised on this page.
Is a warranty or future re-unlock included?
The service terms, treatment of future software updates and any warranty arrangements must be agreed for your job. Do not assume manufacturer warranty preservation, a mechanical warranty or unlimited future unlocking is included.
Can I send an ECU from the Republic of Ireland?
Yes. Buy the service online, enter your correct return address and post the ECU with your order reference. Return postage is additional; follow the applicable courier and customs requirements.
