Why PPG Created An AdBlue® Anti Crystal Cleaner
AdBlue® and SCR faults are now one of the most common emissions problems we see in the workshop. Drivers often arrive with countdown warnings, NOx faults, dosing issues, crystallised filler necks or repeat AdBlue® messages after topping up.
The problem is that many products are either too weak, too vague or sold as a miracle fix. We wanted something stronger, more direct and more honest: a concentrated treatment aimed at crystallisation and deposit control, backed by the same diagnostic-first approach we use in the workshop.
What Is AdBlue® Crystallisation?
AdBlue® is a mix of high-purity urea and deionised water. It is injected into the exhaust system so the SCR system can reduce harmful nitrogen oxide emissions. When fluid dries, overheats, becomes contaminated or sits around components, it can leave hard white crystalline deposits.
These deposits can develop around the AdBlue® injector, dosing pipes, filler neck, filler cap, pump, delivery components and other parts of the SCR system. Left alone, crystallisation can contribute to poor dosing, restricted flow and continued system deterioration.
Why This Cleaner Is Different
PPG AdBlue® Anti Crystal Cleaner is exceptionally concentrated. Only 2 ml is required for every 1 litre of AdBlue®, meaning one small 20 ml vial can treat up to 10 litres.
That concentration matters. It keeps the product small, simple to dose and easy to use while still delivering a strong treatment ratio. Each pack includes a 5 ml measuring syringe so customers can measure accurately instead of guessing.

How To Dose PPG AdBlue® Anti Crystal Cleaner
The recommended dosage is simple: 2 ml of treatment per 1 litre of AdBlue®.
- 5 litres of AdBlue® requires 10 ml of treatment
- 10 litres of AdBlue® requires the full 20 ml vial
- The treatment must only be added to the AdBlue® tank
- Never add it to the diesel fuel tank

Does AdBlue® anti crystal cleaner actually work?
It can help where crystallisation and deposits are part of the issue. PPG has repeatedly tested this treatment and seen strong results for treating existing crystallisation and helping protect against further build-up.
Will it fix an AdBlue® countdown?
Not by itself. A countdown can be caused by NOx sensors, pump pressure, dosing faults, wiring, control module issues or SCR efficiency faults. Those symptoms should be diagnosed first.
Can I put it in the diesel tank?
No. It must only be added to the AdBlue® tank. Never add it to the diesel fuel tank.
How much does one vial treat?
One 20 ml vial treats up to 10 litres of AdBlue® when used at the recommended dose of 2 ml per litre.
