If the DPF warning light is on, the filter may be restricted, but that does not prove the filter is the root cause. A diesel particulate filter normally blocks because something has stopped the vehicle completing regeneration or because the engine is producing too much soot.
That is why PPG does not treat every DPF enquiry as an automatic cleaning job. The correct starting point is a diagnostic-led assessment: fault codes, live data, pressure readings and the vehicle's use pattern all matter.

£199What The Assessment Looks For
A proper DPF assessment can include fault-code checks, differential-pressure readings, temperature-sensor data, soot and ash information, regeneration history, EGR or boost issues, fuelling faults and exhaust leaks. The exact checks depend on the vehicle and the symptoms presented.
The aim is to answer a practical question: is cleaning the correct next step, or is the filter only reacting to another fault?
Why Cleaning Is Not Always The Answer
A forced regeneration is not the same as cleaning. A chemical clean is not a repair for a faulty sensor, boost leak, injector issue, thermostat fault or failed regeneration strategy. If the underlying fault remains, the DPF can block again quickly.
Some filters are also unsuitable for cleaning. A melted, cracked, missing, heavily ash-loaded or physically damaged substrate may need a different route. PPG will explain the findings before recommending work.
