Testing, repair or cloning?

If the fault has not been diagnosed, do not start by buying a replacement module. Power supplies, wiring, connectors and other vehicle faults can look like a failed control unit.

A module assessment helps establish whether testing, repair, recovery or replacement is the appropriate next step. Initial bench checks are not the same as a complete vehicle diagnosis, and no assessment guarantees that every module can be repaired.

Cloning is different: it transfers supported data from the original unit to a suitable donor. It does not repair the vehicle-side fault that may have damaged the original. If a donor is needed, have its complete label checked before buying or posting it.

Start with our ECU and module assessment enquiry when the unit, fault or donor match is uncertain.

Unlocking and tuning are different jobs

ECU unlocking provides the relevant access on a listed supported unit. It is not a clone, a performance remap or a general ECU repair.

For the references listed on our £199 ECU unlocking page, use the buy-online-and-post route: select the exact unit, pay, receive the order reference and follow the dispatch instructions. There is no separate pre-purchase compatibility enquiry for those listed references.

Postal remapping changes the calibration for an agreed tuning result. Use the postal ECU remapping service to check the supported unit and vehicle requirements before removal or dispatch.

Follow the instructions on the relevant service page. Do not use a cloning, testing or unlocking order as a substitute for another type of work.

Not sure which service?

Start with the module label

For a repair, testing or donor enquiry, send clear photos of the complete module label with the vehicle make, model, year, registration or VIN and fault symptoms. Include diagnostic findings if available, and tell us about water ingress, previous programming or repair attempts.

For cloning, include the original and proposed donor labels. Similar housings or a matching model name do not establish hardware and software compatibility.

Newtownards workshop and postal services

Find Prestige Performance Group at 36A Donaghadee Road, Newtownards, BT23 7EU. We welcome vehicle owners and garages from Belfast, Bangor and across Northern Ireland, with UK and Republic of Ireland postal enquiries handled through the relevant service page.

Cloning, repair and assessment enquiries need the module and job requirements checked first. Listed ECU unlocking uses its own direct buy-and-post process. In every case, obtain the correct reference and dispatch instructions before sending anything.

Pack the unit securely, protect its connectors and include the reference, contact details and return address. Follow the selected service's postage options and confirm any applicable customs arrangements for Republic of Ireland shipments.

Choosing an ECU or module service

I do not know which module is faulty. Where should I start?

Start with the fault symptoms and any diagnostic findings, rather than order a clone or buy a donor. Use the module assessment enquiry so the workshop can help identify the appropriate testing or vehicle-diagnostic route.

Is cloning the same as repairing a module?

No. Cloning transfers supported readable data to compatible replacement hardware. Repair or recovery concerns the original unit. The right route depends on the fault, data readability and available donor.

Do these services include a replacement module?

The listed module services are work on units supplied for the job; replacement hardware is not automatically included. Standard cloning normally requires your original and a compatible donor. Check the exact service scope before ordering.

Is every module service the same price?

No. Prices and inclusions depend on the module and selected work. FRM recovery is £49 for supported units, airbag crash-data reset is £69 including VAT, and listed ECU unlocking is £199 including VAT plus return postage. Check each service page for its full scope and any additional work.

Do listed ECU unlocks need a separate compatibility enquiry?

No. Select the exact reference listed on the ECU unlocking page, buy online and use the paid order reference and dispatch instructions. Do not select a similar reference as a substitute for an unlisted unit. Cloning, fault assessment and postal remapping have different requirements.

Can I post my module from elsewhere in the UK or Ireland?

Postal enquiries are welcome. Follow the selected service's support, ordering and dispatch requirements, and include the correct reference. Return shipping and any applicable Republic of Ireland customs arrangements must be confirmed for that service.

Will a replacement module always be plug and play?

No. Some vehicles still need coding, adaptations, calibration or other checks. An airbag-module reset also does not certify the complete SRS safe. Follow the service limitations and the manufacturer's repair requirements.

Assessment First. Diagnose Properly. Fix It Right.
