Repair, Recover or Clone
ECU replacement is not always the right first move. We assess the module and vehicle information before recommending the correct route.
Repair
Repair the customer's original ECU where practical and economically sensible.
Recover
Recover supported data from a damaged, failed-write or non-communicating ECU where possible.
Clone
Transfer supported data to a verified compatible donor ECU when cloning is the correct repair path.
Program
Carry out required programming checks and advise when vehicle-side coding or adaptation may still be needed.
Assessment first: not every faulty ECU needs cloning, and not every damaged ECU can be repaired or recovered.

Do not buy a donor ECU until we have checked clear photographs of the original and replacement labels. Similar-looking ECUs are not automatically interchangeable.

Programming Methods
We use the correct supported access method for the module. This may include OBD programming, bench programming, boot-mode access, full backup and supported data transfer.
Identify
Vehicle details, ECU references and software identity are checked before programming work is attempted.

Transfer
Supported data is transferred to a verified compatible donor ECU using professional equipment.

Donor ECUs, removal, refitting, coding, adaptations and delivery are separate unless quoted
The £49 testing fee covers the initial ECU or BCM bench assessment only. It is payable before the unit is sent and remains non-refundable regardless of the test result. It remains payable if the unit does not communicate, no fault is found, the unit is beyond repair, the wrong module is supplied, required data cannot be recovered or the customer declines the subsequent quotation. The £49 fee is not automatically deducted from the repair or cloning price.
Limits and Security Checks
ECU cloning has technical and legal limits. We will explain those limits before additional work is authorised.
Not every ECU can be repaired or cloned
Plug and play only applies when a complete supported clone can be produced
Some vehicles still require fault clearing, adaptations, coding or calibration
Severe processor, memory, fire, corrosion or water damage may prevent recovery
Jaguar and Land Rover services are not currently offered
Proof of ownership may be required for immobiliser or security-related work
Vehicle-side faults must be diagnosed separately
No additional repair or cloning work starts without customer approval

Can every ECU be cloned?
No. Support depends on ECU type, donor compatibility, the condition of the original ECU and whether the required data can be read.
Should I buy a donor ECU first?
No. Send clear photographs of the original and donor labels before buying parts. Hardware, software, processor, memory and vehicle application can all affect compatibility.
Can I post my ECU to you?
Yes. Use the £49 testing request first. Full sending instructions and a job reference are provided after the request and payment are confirmed.
How long does ECU cloning take?
Turnaround depends on workload, ECU type, test results, donor compatibility and whether additional repair or data recovery is required. We do not guarantee a turnaround before assessment.
Can you clone a water-damaged ECU?
Sometimes. If the required data can still be recovered, cloning may be possible. Severe corrosion, burnt components or damaged memory can prevent recovery.
